I am particularly interested in the interaction of urban stress, poverty, the environment, and other such factors, and how they impact health and mental health.  We know that living in urban/high density areas is a key driver of the higher incidence of health and mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and heart disease.  In more economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, there is a disproportionate number of food deserts and less community health resources–also impacting health and mental health.  If elected, I plan to draw attention to these important areas for psychologists to include in their training and work.  I will seek participation of Division 34 members in these efforts.
